75,000 tons of non-basmati white rice exports to the UAE
While the ban on non-basmati white rice exports was imposed on July 20 to bolster domestic supply, exceptions for exports have been permitted by the government to fulfill other countries’ food security requirements upon request.
On September 25, the Indian government announced its approval for the export of 75,000 metric tons of non-basmati white rice to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) via the National Cooperative Exports Limited (NCEL), according to a notification from the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT).
This export decision comes in the wake of a ban on non-basmati white rice exports that was instituted on July 20 to bolster domestic supply. However, exceptions have been made for exports to other nations to address their food security needs, subject to government approval.
In a related development, in August, the Indian government granted permission for the export of 143,000 metric tons of non-basmati white rice to Bhutan, Mauritius, and Singapore.
Under this initiative, the DGFT officially sanctioned the export of 79,000 metric tons of non-basmati white rice to Bhutan, 14,000 metric tons to Mauritius, and 50,000 metric tons to Singapore.

What is National Cooperative Exports Limited (NCEL)?
The government of India has set up a National Cooperative Exports Limited (NCEL) under the Multi-State Cooperative Societies (MSCS) Act, 2002. All cooperative societies, from primary to apex, that are interested in exports are eligible to become members.
